Here is a simple exercise to help you develop your reading skills in Amharic. A series of words will be given to you in the following format.

1. The first box contains the individual letter pronunciation only. Click on this box to hear
how the letter is pronounced (this is identical to what we did in Lesson 3).
2. The second box will read out the word one letter at a time when clicked. It will
sound somewhat like a robot since there is a short gab between letters!
3. The last box will read out the word with a continuos flow.....this is the proper way that
the word will be pronounced.

Practice reading these words using this format until you start recognizing the letters as soon as you see them. This may take a long time, so repeat doing so as many time as necessary. Do not get frustrated. Keep in mind that you are learning a whole new language after all ...
