Lesson 4:
Reading in Amharic

We are now ready to start learning how to read in Amharic. This lesson is probably one of the easiest lessons in this program. One reason that reading in Amharic is so simple is because we have neither vowels nor silent letters as it is the case in English. Therefore, every single letter in a word will be pronounced as you've heard it in the previous lessons. Furthermore, the pronunciation of a letter will not be changed by its neighboring letters. As a result, each letter is pronounced just the way you've heard it in Lesson 3 regardless of what alphabet is next to it.
